The Vodacom Group has appointed Niezaam Davids as chief officer for strategy, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and Nadya Bhettay as group executive for corporate finance. The appointments will be effective from 1 March.

Prior to this appointment, Davids was group executive of M&A. He has also served as group executive for corporate finance, responsible for the Vodacom Group's M&A, treasury and taxation divisions.

He joined Vodacom in January 2001 as executive head of M&A, within the group's strategy division. In this role, he was part of the Vodacom strategy team, contributing to the formulation and implementation of the group's strategy.

Bhettay joined the company in May 2005 as executive head of M&A, within the group's corporate finance division, where she assisted with the execution of Vodacom's M&A deals.

She was also responsible for investor relations, a responsibility she will continue to carry out in her new role.

Prior to joining Vodacom, Bhettay spent five years with Morgan Stanley, in Johannesburg and London. She was part of the investment banking team in Johannesburg which executed M&A and financing deals. She was also part of the M&A execution team in London.

Vodacom adds that it combined the two portfolios of M&A and strategy under one chief officer to provide focus to its operations.

The company has operations in SA, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
