CIOs adopt IT management

CIOs looking to outsource parts of their IT provision are increasingly using best practice frameworks such as IT Service Management (ITSM) according to a survey of 370 CIOs, says CIO.co.uk.

Dimension Data, which carried out the survey of global CIOs, believes the increasing adoption of ITSM and the standards within Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) demonstrate that outsourcing has become a more strategic decision.

If organisations are to outsource more of their IT, Dimension Data said they will need equip themselves with the skills required to manage relationships that are complex and can involve a number of different suppliers.

Cork Chamber gains service solution

Cork Chamber recently decided to avail of a managed services solution for their IT infrastructure, states IT@Cork.

The service, branded as "ManageIT" is being provided by PFH Technology. The chamber was seeking a solution that would provide a service to manage both server and user requirements.

All users in the Chamber are now automatically "connected" with the PFH Network Operations Centre where a full helpdesk operation will provide for remote assistance and secure connections for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
