Satyam needs China

China will be a key part of Indian outsourcing giant Satyam's plans to create 15 000 new jobs worldwide and grow revenue to $2.69 billion this year, says silicon.com.

China will take centre stage for this growth, with Satyam planning to boost its 1 000-strong employee base there to 10 000 and to increase the number of development centres in the country from the five it currently owns.

Satyam runs 95% of its low-cost operations from India, employing 51 000 people, with 46% revenue growth to $2.1 billion over the last financial year.

ANZ moves to Bangalore

In a move that has earned it the wrath of worker unions, New Zealand's largest bank, ANZ National, has decided to move up to 500 jobs from the country to Bangalore by 2009, states The Economic Times.

The jobs are in processing and operational functions and don't involve any contact centre work. Concerns about job loss due to outsourcing have been more common in the US, where anti-outsourcing sentiments have picked up in the run-up to the elections.

The bank has a technology business called ANZ Operations and Technology in Bangalore since 1989. It employs about 1 800 people in IT development roles (about 1 100) and back office and support roles (about 700).
