ST showcases M2M solutions

STMicroelectronics will showcase multiple competencies for the convergence of sensing, communications and networking, says SunHerald.com.

ST will demonstrate novel M2M (Machine-to-Machine) solutions combining its MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems) sensor with Bluetooth and ZigBee network modules at its exhibition booth.

In addition, Giampaolo Bonaldi, marketing engineer at ST's MEMS Division, will present a paper discussing physical sensors for wireless sensor applications to the Sensors Summit conference, which is also part of the event.

WiMax expands in India

One of the most significant developments this year is the momentum WiMax is gaining in India, one of the top future markets for the technology, according to Telecoms.com's WiMax Broadband Convergence report.

Four of the country's major operators are deploying or close to deploying the technology, including Tata Communications, Reliance, BSNL and MTNL.

Tata Communications has already launched wireless broadband services using 802.16d-2004 fixed WiMax equipment running in the 3.3GHz band and sourced from WiMax vendor Telsima.

Statmon capitalises on convergence

Statmon Technologies expands its worldwide business development activities in the emerging IPTV market, says TechWhack.

Informity Technology News reports that "Global IPTV revenue will top $17 billion by 2010 and the majority of global growth in IPTV, the distribution of television services over broadband networks, will be driven by hybrid deployments that combine digital satellite or terrestrial TV services with Internet Protocol-based telecom TV offerings."

Geoffrey Talbot, chairman and CEO of Statmon Technologies, said: "The rapidly increasing upgrades of wide-scale networks for the delivery of IPTV and the convergence of video encoding for content delivery with telecommunication technologies presents a significant opportunity for Statmon Technologies."
