Bytes roadshow showcases remote workers in Cape Town

Johannesburg, 22 May 2008

After a successful kick-off in Johannesburg, the Bytes Communication Systems Roadshow will give Cape Town visitors a real view on how remote workers can function actively and productively in a virtual world.

Based on the success of the Johannesburg leg of the event, where Bytes used the platform to show customers that remote working is a reality, the company will use wireless links across the V&A Waterfront to link to the Johannesburg head office, on 23 May 2008.

In addition, it will provide customers with a sneak preview of the technology solutions driving the remote worker revolution.

The theme of the event centres on Bytes Communication Systems' new strategy, "Giving You the Competitive Edge", and has been tailored specifically towards providing customers, agents and partners with a view into the company's new value vision going forward.

Demonstrations and talks during the day will cover key business issues such as how the technology has shifted businesses into a new paradigm, forcing developments like remote workers and mobile work environments.

"We are using the roadshow as a platform to help us connect with our customers and partners. The idea is to provide an informative and interactive environment to demonstrate our vast range of business solutions, methodologies and products that enable businesses to move towards becoming a Dynamic Enterprises and keep up with evolving workplace demands," says Richard Menton, Product Development Manager at Bytes Communication Systems.

The keynote address will once again be given by Jan Zuurbier, the vice-president of Alcatel-Lucent Emerging Markets, whose presentation gives fresh insight on the revolution of the communications landscape, and focuses on helping organisations deal with the new complexities of mobile workplaces and remote workers. Zuurbier highlights the fact new virtual environments have challenged the current work medium to evolve further placing new emphasis on fresh work styles and a new generation of worker.

"The world is changing, the way people do business is changing, companies have to evolve accordingly to suit the remote worker and the mobile work environment," says George Isaacson, Managing Director of Bytes Communication Systems.

"With the price of fuel, the current traffic gridlock situation we are facing, and the power problems, companies need to think more creatively as to how they can get the most out of their people, ensuring that they become more and not less productive. We believe that at the core of this reality is the remote worker."

According to Bytes, its main goals for the year ahead go beyond just simply dropping off boxes at customers, its main aim is to provide value beyond the box, unlocking the true value of solutions through a fresh approach to suit new emerging working styles and environments as well as offering extensive support and service to our clients throughout the process.

"By attending this event, our customers will be able to gain a fresh insight into communication technology that will give them the competitive advantage going into the future. With particular emphasis on next generation communication technologies and the remote worker," concludes Menton.

The final leg of the roadshow will take place in Durban on 6 June 2008.
