MigrationWare, the local partner of the UK company Micro Focus, has begun selling Micro Focus Data Express, a set of tools to create a secure test environment for production data.

According to Jo~ao de Oliveira, sales director at MigrationWare, not being compliant with international regulations regarding data protection could really hurt a company's efforts in global expansion. He adds that, in Europe, data protection is non-negotiable.

"While the Protection of Personal Information Bill is not law yet, local companies should act now to be ready for the legislation and to align themselves with global trends and ensure they are governed by them in order to remain globally competitive," says De Oliveira.

The security around personal information is less stringent in the testing environment than the production environment, which could lead to information vulnerability in the testing phase of software development, he notes.

"Data Express makes meeting international legislated security requirements and reporting on the steps taken to preserve the privacy of personal information far easier for companies. It will also leaves them ideally placed to comply when local legislation is introduced," he says.
