Stirring up storm of new ideas in Mumbai

The Premier Business Leadership Series swept into India last week, with a flood of inspiration for improved performance management.

The period between June and September is known as monsoon season in India, where the region accumulates the majority of its annual precipitation. Last week, more than 550 executives got caught up in the downpour of ideas generated during The Premier Business Leadership Series in Mumbai.

This event marks the first time SAS has organised a conference of this scale in India and concludes the inaugural year for the multi-city series designed for senior business executives. More than 90% of Mumbai conference attendees are from India; approximately half represent companies with annual revenues of $500 million and above.

With the theme "Insight and Innovation", the conference pairs dynamic speakers with ample networking opportunities in the hopes of inspiring delegates to approach business decision-making in a new light.

"This is one of the fastest growing, innovative arenas in world business today, and it's growing exponentially," said Don Cooper-Williams, executive director of marketing and alliances, Asia Pacific. "The speakers lined up will challenge audiences to innovate in that environment. Audiences will go away with a lot to think about."

In addition to Jim Goodnight and Jim Davis, several other presenters took the stage during the conference:

* Ren'ee Mauborgne, co-author of Blue Ocean Strategy and the world's pre-eminent expert on business strategy, innovation and wealth creation in the knowledge economy.
* Adil Zainulbhai, managing director, McKinsey & Company, India.
* Gerard Lyons, chief economist and group head of global research at Standard Chartered.
* Meera H Sanyal, country executive at ABN AMRO Bank, India.
* BS Nagesh, customer care associate and managing director of retail chain Shopper's Stop.
* Thomas H Davenport, President's Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management at Babson College and co-author of Competing on Analytics: The New Science of Winning.
* Guy Kawasaki, managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, author of The Art of the Start, and co-author of Rules for Revolutionaries.
* Nigel Rayner, a research vice-president at Gartner Research.
