NCR releases banking solution

NCR will release its new Aptra self-scheduler multi-channel booking service for financial institutions states CBR Online.

The Aptra self-scheduler enables consumers to book appointments with the bank's sales consultants through the Internet, a mobile device or a self-service terminal. Once an appointment is booked it can be confirmed immediately through the customer's choice of methods.

Banks can also deploy the 24-hour system on kiosks in their branches, enabling walk-in customers or prospective customers to make an appointment, or allowing those who have previously scheduled a meeting to self check-in on arrival.

Damovo speeds Hertz call centre

Damovo has set up an advanced speech recognition system for Hertz at its European service centre in Dublin, Ireland, says Tech Central.

The intelligent customised solution is expected to handle more than 100 000 telephone calls in the first year alone.

Hertz employs 1 100 people as reservations agents who collectively answer over five million customer calls a year. Because many of these calls are simple and routine enquiries, Hertz sought an automated self-service application to reduce waiting times, increase sales and offer customers more flexibility.

Amazon opens content delivery service

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, is launching Amazon CloudFront, a self-service, pay-as-you-go Web service for content delivery, reports Stock House.

With CloudFront, developers and businesses can distribute content through a worldwide network of edge locations that provide low latency and high data transfer speeds.

CloudFront works seamlessly with other AWS services such as Amazon S3. Like all AWS services, it is self-service with no up-front commitments, no long-term contracts and pay-as-you-go pricing.
