Handset makers accused

Spanish maker of antennas for cellphones, Fractus, has filed a patent infringement suit in the US District Court of Texas against 10 handset makers, reports American Chronicle.

Fractus, which holds more than 80 patents worldwide including 30 in the US, claims the handset makers are infringing nine of its patents related to internal antennas in cellphones.

Defendants in the case include Palm, HTC, UTStarcom, Sharp, Sanyo, Kyocera, Pantech Wireless, Samsung Electronics, RIM, and LG Electronics.

UK tackles online copyright violations

The UK government is finalising its approach to dealing with online copyright infringement, according to ars technica.

Internet disconnections have been publicly taken off the table, but UK creative industries are now lobbying hard for disconnection as the report nears completion.

ISPs argue that better licensing and business models would do a better job of solving the problem.

E-mails a legal risk

The electronic content management association and researcher AIIM has released a report that found a third of organisations have no policy to deal with legal discovery, according to WTN News.

It found that 40% of organisations might need to search backup tapes to find e-mails that could be relevant to litigation.

This 2009 AIIM survey, which was supported by EMC and ASG, found that 84% would have no way to justify why e-mails of a certain age or type had been deleted.
