Google's E-Books rival Amazon

The big question around Google's new push into e-books is how, if at all, it will change Amazon's fortunes, writes The Washington Post.

Jefferies & Company analyst Yousseff Squali argues that Amazon will likely remain the e-books leader, but that the move by Google may force Amazon to provide publishers with better financial terms and offer aggressive discounts on the Kindle.

Squali didn't provide specifics on what those new terms might be, but he did analyse the competitive challenges the two will face as they grow their e-books businesses.

BroadVision, Intransition partner

BroadVision a provider of e-business solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Itransition, an international IT and software development group, to provide BroadVision solutions to the CIS market, says Trading Markets.

Under the partnership, Itransition and BroadVision will engage in joint strategic business development plan activities for the latter's suite of solutions, including the Commerce Agility Suite platform and the E-merchandising Uplift SaaS offering.

The combined solutions will stimulate growth by providing customers with a means of moving more business processes to the Web while decreasing the overall cost of ownership and giving a rapid return in investment, Intrasition said.

Business networking site unveiled

The BCC has unveiled an online business networking site aimed at helping small companies succeed in the current economic climate, states bytestart.

The Business Network Online (BNO), developed by the British Chambers of Commerce and Accredited Chamber Network, goes beyond the existing social networking and tendering sites by providing people with realistic opportunities to pitch for and win new contacts, covering both the private and public sectors.

Currently Web sites tend to offer either business networking or tendering, but the BNO does both, providing a safe platform for people to buy and sell their products and services from as well as develop and build new contacts.
