SA's authoritative voice in the technology sector and one of the most respected local monthly business magazines, ITWeb's Brainstorm, has appointed Jane Steinacker as its new editor.

Steinacker began her career in media as a sub-editor at The Citizen newspaper in 2000. Following that, she was the editor of It's My Business in the Sunday Times, and has also been instrumental in the redesign of a few titles, including It's My Business, Banker SA and Laowai (a consumer publication for foreigners in Shanghai). In addition, she has written extensively on monetary policy and penned a weekly tender column.

She has recently returned from Shanghai, where she spent three-and-a-half years studying Mandarin at Jianguo University and Economics through UNISA. While in China, Steinacker also wrote for MoneyWeb.

"Brainstorm holds all the qualities that I value in publishing. It's informative and relevant to its carefully defined audience, but also holds editorial integrity in the highest regard - an attribute which is not always found in today's media landscape," says Steinacker.

"The editors which precede me have been instrumental in creating an amazing magazine and I have big shoes to fill. It truly is a magazine for 'decision-makers and other intelligent people'. That being said, in media there is always room for improvement. Our loyal and new readers will soon be introduced to new columns and stories that will entertain and inform."

Ranka Jovanovic, ITWeb's editorial director, adds: "Brainstorm brings its readers world-class analytical reporting on topical issues, trends and technologies shaping South African business. Jane's wealth of knowledge and experience will help the magazine do exactly that at a time when we are defining a new publishing strategy that marries print and digital."
