DimensionsLite, from Access Accounting, and distributed in SA by ASYST International SA, is one of the few, if not the only MSDE-based business and accounts solution currently available in the local market.
"MSDE is a free of charge version of Microsoft`s SQL Server database. Consequently, this means that SQL Server-based accounts software is now affordable by almost every size of company almost regardless of their budget," commented Paul Marketos, MD of ASYST International SA.

DimensionsLite is a five-user system. It is available as a single or multi-currency solution and it combines the ease of use and value for money provided by Horizons with the many advantages of a SQL Server database, to deliver a number of highly significant benefits, including:
* Greater speed and increased capacity;
* Superior data stability and full rollback facilities;
* An API (Application Programming Interface); and
* A software development kit (SDK) that enables seamless integration with third-party applications.
The MSDE database is a cut-down version of SQL Server. There are three principal differences:
* It allows a maximum of five concurrent users;
* It is supplied without the Enterprise Manager utilities; and
* It is free.
Access is therefore providing a DimensionsLite Administration Tool, with facilities for data file backup and restore, and for user configuration.
