Following the June launch of the Macromedia Studio MX application development suite, local Macromedia distributor and Web-enablement specialist, Dax Data, has announced that more than 250 000 customers have adopted the product globally, making it the most successful offering in Macromedia history.

Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says the success of the product has encouraged Macromedia to continue its special introductory price until 31 December 2002, at which time the local cost will increase by about R1 000*.

"Until then, customers still have the chance to purchase a full copy at the introductory price or upgrade to Macromedia Studio MX from any version of any qualifying Macromedia product," he notes.

"While many of the solutions being created with Macromedia Studio MX are best-of-class Web sites, we are seeing a shift towards more `desktop` like experiences where the value of a better interactive experience translates into more revenue, better customer retention, and higher levels of customer satisfaction," adds Matthews.

Macromedia Studio MX is a suite of integrated tools for developing the full spectrum of Internet solutions, from simple HTML to the emerging class of rich Internet applications. The product includes Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia Fireworks MX, Macromedia FreeHand 10 as well as a developer edition of ColdFusion MX.

Paramount Digital Entertainment in among the many customers known to have adopted the latest versions of the Macromedia MX product family.

"Paramount`s ETOnline generates a huge volume of content everyday, and must be able to react quickly to deliver breaking celebrity news," says Steve Huntley, senior technical producer, Paramount Digital Entertainment.

"Macromedia Studio MX is easy to work with and has vastly improved our team`s workflow," says Fred Sharples, principal, Orange Design. "Its cross-product integration, with launch and edit and file sharing, saves us valuable time and keeps our team informed of changes."

MindComet is a global digital solutions developer offering a complete array of digital development services. Its clients include Burger King, Cable & Wireless, National Hockey League, Speed Channel and United Parcel Service.

"Dreamweaver MX is an essential upgrade for any Web development firm," says Ted Murphy, President/CEO, MindComet. The native OS X support in Dreamweaver, combined with intuitive development features such as inline code suggestions, the Tag Library editor, and XML validation, make Dreamweaver the ultimate Web development tool for professionals."

Carbon Five, a Macromedia Alliance partner, develops, integrates, and maintains scalable and secure enterprise systems using existing and emerging enterprise technologies. Recently, Carbon Five completed an interactive Marketing Planning Calendar application for Charles Schwab and a multiplayer gaming engine for Calvin Klein using Macromedia Flash MX.

"Macromedia Flash MX products are more powerful than their predecessors because of the way that they are integrated," says Alon Salant, principal, Carbon Five. "Macromedia Flash Remoting, Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX, and Macromedia Flash MX can share data and services across client and server platforms with features that promote flexible, scalable and secure solutions."
