Durban-based Broad Vision Enterprise Solutions has been appointed exclusive South African channel partner for voice over Protocol (VOIP) testing systems supplier Empirix`s Hammer VOIP test solutions.

Mike Aspinall, Broad Vision Enterprise Solutions director, says the agreement will capitalise on Broad Vision`s experience in performance monitoring, application testing and management for , financial services, manufacturing and other clients in SA.

While VOIP is relatively new in SA, Aspinall says the product is starting to generate interest among VOIP network providers such as Dimension Data, Spescom and Grintek.

He says Hammer products are, internationally, the industry`s most widely used VOIP IP/TDM test solutions, as verified by four consecutive Frost and Sullivan market surveys.

Since the introduction of its first VOIP test system in 1995, the Hammer product range has expanded to include a full range of testing platforms, products and services that span the development and deployment lifecycle for next-generation services.

Aspinall claims the product allows for easy detection of problems on a VOIP network.

"It`s a very broad tool, but very in-depth," he says.

Steven Gladstone, VP and GM of the Empirix Communications Infrastructure Group, comments that, as adoption of VOIP services by South African enterprises accelerates, it`s extremely important that IT professionals have access to the expertise and systems required to ensure smooth deployments and to troubleshoot issues that may arise.
