The Core Group has bounced back from its shattered relationship with TomTom by being appointed as the sole distributor for Griffin Technology in Africa.

Griffin is one of the top suppliers for iPod accessories, says Core Group executive director RJ van Spaandonk, who is looking forward to taking advantage of this position.

"Given the imminent launch of the iPhone in SA, Griffin's business is expected to explode," he says.

Core's relationship with Griffin is not new. The distributor used to be responsible for the accessory provider's Southern Africa business. This has now been expanded to cover the whole of Africa, exclusively.

Griffin Technology offers accessories that "power, protect and connect" digital music players, such as the Apple iPod, SanDisk Sansa and Microsoft Zune.

Products include FM transmitters, cases, speaker systems, power solutions, car solutions, audio/video solutions and cables. The company also offers accessories for Macs and PCs, such as cables and adapters.

Griffin's products will continue to be sold through major consumer electronics chains, specialised audio and video outlets, Apple authorised resellers and mass merchandise retailers.
