Tarsus targets SMEs

Tarsus Technologies has extended its distribution agreement with Cisco to include Linksys, Cisco's brand of consumer and small business-focused networking solutions.

Under this new agreement, Tarsus Technologies hopes to tap into the SME market, which has so far evaded it.

“It opens new opportunities for Tarsus Technologies in the SME market that we had difficulty addressing in the past,” says Risna Steenkamp, Cisco business development manager at Tarsus. “There is no rand or dollar value to the deal's worth, but we estimate it will double our current Cisco business.”

Steenkamp believes the deal will have positive implications for Tarsus since the Linksys small business products fall under Cisco. She explains that the products are already engrained in the SME market.

Gunning for SMEs

"We originally took the Cisco brand into the Tarsus Technologies stable with the intention of growing its presence in the small and medium-sized business sector," Steenkamp explains. "We now have access to a really compelling range of products to service that market with."

Steenkamp adds that reaching the SME market will take more than access to a new range of products. She says Tarsus is committed to increasing its stockholding so that it is able to immediately meet demand in the market.

"All of this, coupled with the ease-of-use, reliability and stability of the Linksys range, which is backed by Cisco, makes for a very compelling value proposition.”

Tarsus is now actively encouraging its SME-focused resellers to register with Cisco to become certified for the sale of Linksys solutions, as it believes this range will prove to be successful.
