Samsung has entered into an agreement with Itec that gives the office automation giant the exclusive distribution rights in southern Africa for the Samsung SCX-6122 MFD, a 22 page-per-minute, segment one monochrome multi-functional device (MFD).
“Itec is the premier office automation business in South Africa and has excellent coverage through its franchises,” says Piers Proctor, country manager for Samsung. “The deal makes great sense for us as Samsung has a highly competitive product for small office/home office, SME and departmental needs; however, we have not had the route to market through an office automation company that is serious about growing market share through partnering with leading manufacturers. We will be doing our utmost to support Itec by ensuring the availability of the SCX-6122 MFD, and providing a product that is very well priced, feature-rich and easy to operate.”
Itec will be adding this product to its line as the key segment one monochrome MFD. “Our customers will benefit from the fact that this is a competitively priced device manufactured by a leading company,” says Ryan Miles, COO of Itec Distribution. “The deal enables us to continue providing the world's best brands to our customers.”
The SCX-6122 will be dual branded, with Itec intending to further extend its already strong market share in this segment and in so doing strengthen its relationship with Samsung. Proctor says that Samsung is aiming to sell a material quantity of units per month and Itec has committed to exceed their expectations.
Itec's main focus will be on the small and medium-sized business sector, but will also include corporate departments and offices. “We will be targeting almost our entire customer base as the MFD offers the latest printing technology, ease of use, simple and user-friendly connectivity, and competitive running costs, all backed by Itec's customer-focused service and support,” says Miles.
The Samsung SCX-6122 has several features that are usually confined to more expensive MFDs. Among these is the ability to e-mail directly from the device. It also has high-volume paper capacity. The standard 550-sheet paper tray, 100-sheet multi-purpose tray and optional 550-sheet additional tray are able to print up to 1 200 sheets, allowing for less reloading, saving time and reducing effort.
