RSA, the security division of EMC SA, has appointed Networks Unlimited, a distributor of IT security and networking solutions, as an official RSA distributor for SA and sub-Saharan Africa.

Rob Watson, country manager of RSA, says the company is 100% channel focused. “Our entire product suite is sold through our channel partners,” he points out.

“The selection was made based on Networks Unlimited's outstanding record as a value-added distributor, and on its ability to help us build strong relationships with our systems integrators and resellers,” Watson adds.

Wayne Bird, director of Networks Unlimited, says the company identified a growing need to offer additional products and solutions to meet a wider spectrum of security. “This includes the need to protect and manage identities and information access, data loss prevention solutions and products which integrate various reporting, event management and logging products.”

Commenting on the benefits of the agreement to the market, Bird says Networks Unlimited will assist the RSA channel to demonstrate the RSA value proposition, assist with qualifying opportunities, solution design and closing deals.

“These are all part of a value-added distributor's responsibilities, and Networks Unlimited is ideally positioned to fulfil that role,” says Bird.

Networks Unlimited is concentrating on the RSA data loss prevention suite of products, as well as RSA SecurID and RSA enVision. Initially, the company will focus on the financial services, e-commerce, government and healthcare market sectors.

The company also plans to expand its target markets to include other industries such as short automotive, production, manufacturing, retail, technology, transportation and paralegal.

“Our plan is to work with a select group of focused security reseller partners throughout the 14 countries which constitute sub-Saharan Africa, empowering them on the RSA technology that would eventually enable them to present the technology value proposition to their customer base,” Bird says.

Watson agrees. “One of our fundamental responsibilities is to empower the channel, and we do this by ensuring the correct levels of certification and training programmes are in place. I am confident that Networks Unlimited will play a crucial role in further strengthening our footprint in SA as well as sub-Saharan Africa,” he says.
