Aimed at photographers, business users, home enthusiasts and entry level graphics artists, the new printer offers an affordable solution which combines superior technology with versatility, explains EPSON SA`s general manager, Hans Dummer.

The Stylus Photo 1200 prints on a variety of paper sizes and weights up to A3+ format. "This makes the new printer the ideal solution for demanding enlargements and high volume print jobs," he says. "EPSON is presently the only printer vendor to offer an entry level A3+ alternative for the photo market at a competitive price."

The Stylus Photo 1200 features a larger paper capability and includes an A3+ paper roll option. "Other features include wide format capability, as well as excellent connectivity interfaces including parallel, USB (Universal Serial Bus) and Mac Serial," he says. "The Stylus Photo 1200 delivers significant advancements in EPSON`s MicroPiezo Technology, incorporating the 6 picolitre EPSON Ultra Micro Dot and Variable Sized Droplet Technology."

He goes on to say that print quality and gradation of the Stylus Photo 1200 have been refined due to improvements to Epson`s Acu photo half toning and Photo Enhance 3 technologies combined with improvements to Epson`s MicroPiezo Technology, a mechanical rather than thermal printing technique.

"EPSON`s new Ultra Micro Dot, which is invisible to the human eye, combined with EPSON`s Variable Dot size option, has improved colour grade consistency on plain paper considerably," Dummer adds. "The development of a selection table optimised for plain paper further improves colour reproduction, which is enhanced by EPSON`s own Premium inkjet plain paper."

Dummer points out that the invisible 6 picolitre EPSON Ultra MicroDot is an integral part of EPSON`s Variable-Sized Droplet Technology, which works with the Advanced MicroPiezo printhead to produce 3 different dot sizes on a single line, creating exceptional smoothness whilst optimising performance.

The Stylus PHOTO 1200 fully supports Windows 95, 98, NT4.0, Mac, iMac and G3 operating systems and features excellent connectivity, with Parallel, USB (Universal Serial Bus) and Mac Serial interfaces as standard. A Postscript option is also available for truly professional applications.

The Stylus Photo 1200 is positioned above the Stylus Photo EX due to its faster print speeds and improved Ultra Micro Dot technology and is priced at R4,999 inc. VAT.
