Nanoteq`s hacking course - `for the good guys`

Johannesburg, 09 Nov 2000

After the huge success of presenting the course in Malaysia and recently in South Africa, the Nanoteq Training Academy is again offering its Applied Hacking Techniques course to the industry. The course has been designed to give insight into the minds and methods of cyber criminals. This hands-on three-day course is presented at Nanoteq`s offices in Centurion.

According to the latest CSI/FBI Computer Crime Survey 90% of the 273 organisations surveyed experienced cyber attacks, reporting $265-million in financial losses.

"Nanoteq senior training consultant, Idris Cassim, states that although hacking is a much discussed subject, the principles, threats and mechanisms are not always well understood.

"The Nanoteq Training Academy offers this practical hacking course which is used to expose the participant companies` weaknesses. Although the nature of the course is practical, it is also well complemented by discussions on the theoretical concepts of hacking. Our approach to limit the number of students which guarantees attention and maximum transfer of knowledge through focussed hands-on sessions.

The course is presented by Professional `white-hat hackers`, who are part of the world-wide internet hacking community.

"The course enables students to profile potential hackers, the various weapons they could use, find potential vulnerabilities in their computer systems, identify security precautions and test for security weaknesses. Students learn how to put security policies in place and the various solutions available to secure these systems," explained Cassim.

Delegates are security screened and must have an IT background with certain qualifications.

The Nanoteq Training Academy course schedule is available on www.nanoteq.com/training, or contact Idris Cassim on (012) 672 7000.
