WiFi income sharing

Johannesburg, 05 Nov 2003

DataPro, an Internet service provider, has introduced a risk-free outsourced wireless Internet (WiFi) access solution for prospective hotspot owners in large metropolitan areas.

Martin Kuhlmann, DataPro project manager, WiFi solutions, says the company "offers location owners a fully outsourced, risk-free solution. Restaurants and hotels can now offer WiFi access without paying service fees. While DataPro undertakes the risk of running the service and its costs, guests purchase access on a per-minute prepaid basis."

Kuhlmann says aside from being "an obvious customer draw card, the solution also provides business owners with a revenue stream. Thirty percent of the income will be handed back to them."

Kuhlmann adds that "as WiFi access takes off in SA, businesses that have taken the first step will be positioned as forward-thinking". DataPro has already installed this solution at the Protea Hotel Victoria Junction and Mugg&Bean in Cavendish Square, Cape Town.
