DeARX offers Oracle to Java migration solution

Johannesburg, 23 Feb 2004

Enterprises currently running applications on Oracle Forms can now take advantage of the benefits of J2EE multi-tier environments. DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd offers a unique conversion tool called Exodus to provide companies with a smooth and very cost-effective solution to convert their current Oracle legacy systems to an open source environment.

Exodus converts Oracle Forms and PL/SQL to J2EE, ensuring that enterprises maintain the business logic, user interface and knowledge capital they invested in over years of development.

The main advantage of using DeARX`s highly automated migration tool Exodus is the ability to sustain software investments with precision, high speed and low costs. The converted application is fully maintainable, portable and contains no wrappers. All semantic contents are converted, providing a flexible deployment with very little impact on business operations.

Exodus is the single most comprehensive migration toolset on the market. The automatic nature of the conversion process provides a superior cost-benefit ratio over manual conversions, as Exodus has been benchmarked to reduce conversion costs by as much as 90% and project time by at least 80%.

Exodus reads and converts Oracle Forms and PL/SQL code and automatically creates 100% standard Java code utilising the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) architecture. It allows companies the benefit of converting their bespoke Oracle applications into a database independent environment using Java applications, or JavaServer Pages (JSPs). In addition, clients can utilise Exodus to achieve 100% integration with Oracle BC4J, Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle 9iAS and the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF). Exodus is the only Oracle Forms migration tool that has been reviewed by the Oracle migration committee, evaluated, rated and selected as preferred product for migration purposes.
