Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, reportedly the number one gamer in the world, will jet into SA to make his fighting presence felt at the rAGE expo at Northgate`s Coca-Cola Dome next month.

Fatal1ty is among a rapidly growing group of international electronic sports champions known as Cyberathletes, report the rAGE organisers. He will stop in SA en route to China where he will compete in one leg of the year-long Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) World Tour for total winnings of $400 000.

South African gamers will be able to challenge him in a traditional Fatal1ty Shootout. The first one to beat him in a "duel to the death" will win R20 000, courtesy of NAG (New Age Gaming) Magazine.

Joining Fatal1ty will be duelling partner Zen aka Brian Grapatin. Zen is the first full time gamer under the Fatal1ty brand and is a heavyweight Cyberathlete in his own right.

"Essentially I`m doing this to turbo-boost the gaming community in SA and Africa in general. My sponsor, ABIT and my name are fully behind developing untapped talent," says Wendel regarding his attendance at rAge 2005.

rAGE will be held from 30 September to 2 October. For more information, visit www.rageexpo.co.za.
