Intel leaps ahead in 2006

Johannesburg, 02 Feb 2006

At Helderfontein conference centre on 31 January 2006, Intel officially unveiled its new logo and revealed to the audience, in the form of a fabulous fashion show, its two new consumer platforms, both sporting brand new Intel dual core technology.

The new Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology is the most advanced Intel platform for computing on the go, while Intel Viiv technology is designed for the ultimate digital home experience.

Delia Griggs, regional marketing manager for Intel South and Sub-Saharan Africa, says: "Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology based laptops deliver a revolutionary mobile dual-core design with enhanced high-definition capabilities for an immersive, personalised entertainment experience, which supports improved battery life for the on-the-go mobile lifestyle and expanded connectivity options for greater flexibility to communicate. Intel Viiv technology offers this same exceptional immersive digital entertainment experience, but it specifically designed for the shared home experience."

Sami Sabiti was MC of the fashion show, as the models showcased the new features of the technology in a unique and innovative way, visually portraying to the audience the advances and advantages for consumers. This included all the features you need for your mobile lifestyle as well as the advantages that Viiv offers in terms of accessing, enjoying, managing and sharing digital content.

The evening came to a close as the new Intel logo was revealed and Mike Bonello, Intel EMEA press and analyst manager, was accompanied on stage by the models to sum up why 2006 is a leap year at Intel.

To showcase the true power of these new product platforms, a number of leading industry players put on an outstanding display of the new dual core based systems. These included Acer, Mecer, Proline, Sony, Lenovo, Esquire and Sahara.
