Former hacker in SA this week

Celebrity former hacker Kevin Mitnick will be among several IT security experts to address over 400 delegates at ITWeb`s Security Summit this week.

The two-day event, to be staged in Bryanston from tomorrow, focuses on the increasingly important issue of IT security.

Mitnick, a former hacker turned security consultant and author of the books The Art of Deception and The Art of Intrusion, will attempt to hack local wireless networks as part of his keynote speech on "wireless insecurity".

He will also address delegates on social engineering and the human element of IT security.

Other speakers include Tom Scholtz, research VP at Gartner UK; Fred Baumhardt, security technology architect at Microsoft; Stuart McDonald, senior VP of regional business development, Asia Pacific for Mastercard International; and Dr Lidror Troyansky, chief scientist at PortAuthority Technologies.
