More and more teachers view the weeks before school starts as a perfect time for honing those skills, reports The Gridley Herald.

They are not bogged down with grading or lesson plans, and increasingly they opt to attend workshops, conferences and often use online professional training.

A variety of electronic options are available, from facilitator-led sessions to self-paced, asynchronous tutorials.

Trainer1 in e-learning partnership with Russia

Business Training Russia (BTR), a short-term business education and training company, has formed a partnership with Trainer1, a UK-based learning consultancy, reports Newswire Today.

Neil Lasher of Trainer1 will supply expertise in designing and developing e-learning materials for (BTR). In the partnership, BTR supplies the subject matter knowledge and localisation needed to produce e-learning materials for clients in the Russian market.

Lasher returns to Moscow in early February to continue work with BTR staff on how to design and deliver successful e-learning materials.

India's e-learning portal debuts with open source

An e-learning and collaborative training portal was introduced during an awards ceremony for attendees of Shiksha India Trust.

A core phase of the development of India's educational e-learning is explicitly based on open source tools and initiatives, reports Really Linux.

Part of the Confederation of India Industries, Shiksha India Trust is dedicated to the development and education of India's youth and relies heavily on open source tools.
