IBM releases FileNet

IBM has unveiled the first major version of its enterprise content management software, reports ITWorld. FileNet P8 4.0 was bought for $1.6 billion last October.

The software lets users manage all content from across systems, and automated records management makes it easier for companies to meet compliance requirements.

A new J2EE-based content engine will allow a company to search, classify and store content from several software vendors.

Yahoo hosts open source CM summit

Yahoo will hold an open source content management (CMS) summit from 22 to 23 March. The free summit will be hosted at the Yahoo campus in California.

The conference is open to all open source CMSes and will feature several sub-conferences which will include Drupal's DrupalCon.

Yahoo is in session submission and review mode until 16 February. The reviews continue until 23 February. A concrete schedule should be available around 2 March.

Partner Communications upgrades mobile content management

Partner Communications has consolidated its content management platforms onto the Alcatel-Lucent mPower content management and delivery system, according to CompanyNews.

Alcatel says the platform will allow the company to launch several services with a shorter time-to-market, through faster delivery of more relevant mobile and broadband content.

Additionally, new workflow and management tools will eliminate manual tasks, add security and enable content providers to easily add large numbers of new content items into the system.
