A group of six Incredible Connection staff members will compete in Packard Bell's gaming event in Portugal at the end of July.

According to Packard Bell, over 15 countries are expected to send delegates to compete, and each country has organised local competitions to determine their representative team. The local teams were determined by means of an online knock-out competition.

Incredible Connection nationwide hosted internal gaming events. "Each store participated in two elimination events," says Sean Nelson, divisional operations manager at Incredible Connection. "We took the best players from each group that participated."

Jonathan Upton, Collin Rautenbach, Hendrik Maartens, Jannie van Tonder, Justin Robinson and Geoff Nienaber have been selected as Incredible Connection's representatives in Portugal.

"Most of our staff has never been outside of SA, so this is definitely a great opportunity for them," says Nelson.

According to Maarten de Gidts, agent for Packard Bell in SA, this will be the second competition run by the company. "Last year, we only opened the competition to our UK stores and we had a fantastic response," he says.

The inclusion of such a large international presence is expected to bring over 100 contestants to this year's competition, says De Gidts.

The competition is a platform for Packard Bell to promote its iPower gaming computer. "I hope the guys come back as winners," he says.

The games, to be played at the final in Lisbon, will include Stalker, Battlefield 2142, Quake 4 and Supreme Commander. The prize will be an all-expenses-paid trip, as well as the latest iPower gaming chassis from Packard Bell.
