Microsoft unveils MSN Mobile
Microsoft has released MSN Mobile, a redesigned and reengineered portal for accessing the Internet and Web services on mobile phones, reports Geekzone.
MSN Mobile will provide customers with access to e-mail, news, sports, entertainment, local movie listings, maps and directions, as well as Windows Live services such as Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Spaces and Live Search.
It also gives consumers an easy way to find the content and services they need while on the move, and features new technologies that customise the experience for each consumer`s device.
Nokia adds three phones
Nokia has three new phones on the way, one for play, one for work and one for looks, says News.com.
The Nokia 6267, 3500 classic and 6121 classic are expected to become available in the third quarter of this year.
Nokia did not say where the phones would be made available.
Single-line attack infects thousands
Thousands of Web sites have fallen victim to an attack using just one line of code that maliciously re-directs browsers via Javascript to servers that host a variety of drive-by exploits, reports ZDNet. Multiple browsers and operating systems are affected by this code if not correctly patched.
Once installed, the new software can be used to steal personal information, or enlist a compromised machine in attacks on other machines. According to security vendor Websense, the attack now affects over 10 000 Web sites worldwide and that list continues to grow. According to Trend Micro, servers hosting some of the malicious code have been traced to Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area and Hong Kong.
The attack, dubbed Mpack, uses cross-site scripting to place malicious iFrames on legitimate Web sites.
Apple joins browser wars
At the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier this month, Steve Jobs, the outspoken Apple CEO, not only talked up his company`s iPhone, but also joined the new browser wars, says Manila Standard Today.
Apple`s entry comes by way of Safari for Windows, a version of the default browser on the Mac since 2003. The Apple Web site claims Safari for Windows is twice as fast as IE7 and 1.6 times faster than Mozilla Firefox.
It also has the features any modern browser should have, including tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking and strong security.
