IBM grows outsourcing business
IBM continues to grow its outsourcing business in the Philippines and is looking to increase its workforce by 60% by the end of the year, reports Asian Journal.
IBM currently employs about 5 000 workers in the Philippines and is divided between IBM Business Services (IBS) and IBM Daksh, its call centre unit that resulted from the acquisition of India-based Daksh in 2004.
IBS does HR outsourcing and has recently expanded into financial and accounting services.
Analysts sceptical of AMD
AMD`s move to cut overhead costs by outsourcing its chip manufacturing business could backfire in the long run, according to analysts who have downgraded the company`s stock, reports ComputerWorld.
AMD is struggling to keep its head above water after posting losses of $611 million and $574 million for its past two quarters.
The company has also drawn criticism for its manufacturing, with recent reports that it will delay the full-volume launch of the "Barcelona" quad-core Opteron server chip from July to October.
Euronet expands ATM agreement
Euronet Worldwide has expanded its ATM outsourcing agreement with China Postal Savings Bank, the fifth largest financial institution in China, for 721 new ATMs, reports Bob`s Guide.
Under the expanded agreement, Euronet will deploy an additional 721 ATMs for China Postal Bank in Beijing, Shanghai and the Guangdong province.
The company will provide the full range of day-to-day ATM outsourcing services from its operations centre in Beijing, which is already managing 90 ATMs for the Bank. Euronet China expects to complete the deployment of the new ATMs for China Postal within the next 12 to 18 months.
