Nickelodeon invests $100m in gaming
Nickelodeon's Kids and Family Group president Cyma Zarghami says the children's network is betting big on online gaming: $100 million big over the next two years, says Blogwired.com.
The company says this investment will fund the development and distribution of a number of online products.
The efforts will range from expanding its existing Nicktropolis property into a virtual world, to launching a casual games portal aimed at young female users.
China cracks down on gaming
China is finding a new way to combat concerns with online gaming and youths in the country, by requiring that Internet gaming companies use a type of screening software to detect users identities through an issued card, reports Short News.
Players are informed to "do suitable physical exercise" after a time limit of three hours or scores will be affected.
This new initiative is being used in China's campaign to reduce Internet gaming addiction across the country.
VoodooPC releases gaming notebook
VoodooPC today introduced its 17-inch widescreen gaming notebook, the ENVY H:171, reports Infosync World.
The notebook chalks up an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor, a dual NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 video card, and a hard drive capacity of up to 600GB using three 200GB hard drives.
Adding support for next-generation NVIDIA GeForce video cards, the ENVY H:171 is aimed at gamers, content creators and all other mobility power users.
