IMTS brings together manufacturers

The Association for Manufacturing Technology announced a new theme and logo for IMTS 2008. The theme, "Connecting Global Technology", is meaningful as IMTS brings together the worldwide manufacturing community, says Automation.com.

The logo, which features a subtle image of a globe with a spark on the horizon, communicates freshness and new ideas.

IMTS 2008 is the 27th edition of the premier manufacturing technology show in North America. It is a six-day event opening in September 2008.

Nissan, Renault look to India

Nissan Motor Company and Renault SA will jointly set up a company in India to design products, develop manufacturing technology and manage costs and purchases, says Forbes.com.

The two carmakers will equally invest in setting up Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India, which will be based in Chennai.

The joint venture will start operations in 2008 and hire more than 1 500 workers by 2010, they said in a statement.

Datacraft focuses on manufacturing industry

Datacraft, an independent IT solutions and services company, is strengthening its focus on the manufacturing industry by developing solutions for manufacturers, says EFYtimes.com.

"The manufacturing sectors in Asia are experiencing a massive boost. Manufacturers continue to outsource or source their production facilities and locate their global supply chain centres to the region for cost savings, effective fulfilment and proximity to raw materials," said Sunil Manglore, CEO of Datacraft India.

To further penetrate the industry, Datacraft will be teaming up with several manufacturing technology vendors in order to enhance its solutions portfolio and provide technologies to address the manufacturers' challenges.
