No Zune Player games expected

The Zune Player, Microsoft's version of Apple's best-selling iPod, will not carry games in the near future, says Digital Spy.

Former Xbox strategy manager J Allard, who is now heading up the Zune project, said games on the player do not offer good "customer satisfaction".

"I love games and maybe for someone with a 40-minute commute, it might be an interesting scenario," he noted. "Thus far, the market really hasn't proven that it is a great scenario."

India looks at gaming

Animation and gaming are seen as the next wave in India's successful outsourcing story, says India Times.

This is a sector that has moved up from outsourcing to co-production, a move up the value chain from low-end, less creative work to higher creativity and advanced technologies, said Krayon Pictures director Namrata Sharma.

She noted that for India to catch the animation bus, it needed to quickly provide the required manpower, since it has been projected that both animation and gaming are multibillion-dollar opportunities for India.

Cyber Games draws 700

The recent Cyber Games 2007 saw 700 competitors eager to win prizes and gain notoriety in Seattle, reports seattlepi.com.

"Seattle was originally named the top city for gaming in the country," says Michael Arzt, who oversees the US programme and is one of the top three officials within International Cyber Marketing.

In the process of selecting the 2007 host city, Seattle beat out Montreal; Cologne, Germany; and Busan, South Korea. This is only the second time the games have been held in the US. For the first four years, they were held in South Korea, followed by San Francisco, Singapore and Monza, Italy.
