The British University in Dubai has announced that the first female graduate to be awarded a Master of Science degree in project management is a UAE national, reports Al Bawaba.

The award vindicates the university`s strategy of delivering British-style masters degrees to meet the vocational and developmental needs of the United Arab Emirates.

It also demonstrates the success and further potential for higher education to help develop the workforce in the Gulf region.

PM Global Congress held in Cancun

The three-day event will be held at the Cancun Hilton and offers opportunities for project managers to learn about worldwide trends as they apply to everyday decisions, according to PRNewswire.

"Organisations around the world are feeling the competitive pressures that come with globalisation, such as shorter time-to-market windows and greater stakeholder scrutiny," said PMI CEO Gregory Balestrero.

Some of the areas of focus include advanced project management skills, communications, consulting skills, general business skills, industry-specific issues, new project management trends, professional development, project management foundation skills, project management issues, sales and marketing skills, and teaming.

HP offers software management service

Hewlett-Packard is offering its Business Technology Optimisation (BTO) portfolio as a service to help users better manage their software implementations, says eWeek.

The company will offer its BTO portfolio in a SAAS model. BTO is essentially a compilation of IT service management software.

The suite consists of four products: Business Availability Center, Quality Center, Performance Center, and Project and Portfolio Management Center.
