Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is shipping its Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor-based server systems to its channel partners, says RTTNews.

The company specified that ten AMD Validated Server Program platforms are available and shipping today, for customer demand for business-focused advantages of systems based on Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors.

The AMD Quad-Core Processor-based server systems are now delivering by distributors, system integrators and specialised OEMs to small and medium businesses, enterprise customers, and high performance computing centres.

Fujitsu Siemens breaks record

A Fujitsu Siemens server has broken the record for server energy efficiency by surpassing the 1 000 operations per watt mark, states GreenerComputing.

The Primergy TX150 S6 server was tested in accordance with Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) standards. SPEC developed the benchmark for energy-efficient industry-standard servers that the Fujitsu Siemens server was tested with.

Previous to the Primergy TX150 S6 server, which clocked in at 1 018 operations per watt, the highest energy efficiency score was 910 operations per watt.

Niveus offers 4TB

Niveus Media has made updates to the Niveus Storage Server while introducing the newest addition, the Niveus Storage Server Pro, reports HiddenWires.

With up to 4TB of storage, the Niveus Storage Server line features new proprietary Niveus Reflection technology.

Reflection allows an unlimited number of additional Internet connected storage servers (in remote locations) to mirror the data and reflect any incremental changes on the master storage server.
