Sierra acquires CradlePoint

Sierra Wireless has acquired Idaho-based CradlePoint, a privately held developer and supplier of wireless networking products and docking solutions for mobile enterprise, industrial and consumer applications, says TMCnet.

CradlePoint has 40 full-time employees and had annual revenue of $6.5 million in 2007 and expected growth revenue of $25 million in 2008.

"The acquisition of CradlePoint is consistent with our strategy of strengthening our differentiation and expanding our position in the mobile computing value chain," said Jason Cohenour, president and CEO of Sierra Wireless.

Alpha includes Sagem modules

Alpha Micro Components has added the Sagem MO300E and XS300E modules to its portfolio of networking products, states Electropages.

Due to their embedded Linux operating system, the modules open up an entire range of new potential applications, says the company.

Sagem Communications is the first manufacturer to bring together a Linux operating system with Edge technology, giving users within the open Linux environment, a huge processing capacity, multiple interfaces and extended memory.

Lane selects Aruba

Lane Education Service District (ESD), in Eugene, Oregon, has selected Aruba's wireless LAN technology and identity-based security for its facilities and has recommended deployment to 16 school districts and more than 120 elementary, intermediate and high schools in the region, reports CNN Money.

Lane ESD was established in 1963 to provide the county's 16 school districts with educational programmes and services that would otherwise have been too costly for a single district to support.

Wireless networking is considered an essential technology for learning support applications. Following an extensive review of both single channel and adaptive wireless LANs, Lane County selected Aruba as its wireless network supplier.
