Spore release date announced

HP and Electronic Arts have released their much-anticipated game, Spore Creature Creator for the PC, according to Tech Shout.

Gamers in Asia-Pacific will be able to download the trial version of Spore Creature Creator from mid-July and can also create their own Spore creatures.

Users can enjoy the Spore Creature Creator game by creating and evolving life, establishing tribes, building civilizations, sculpting entire worlds and exploring a universe filled with creations made by other gamers.

Garriott games from space

Video game designer Richard Garriott said he will use his October flight to the International Space Station to connect with gamers back on Earth, says Statesman.com.

Several announcements regarding bridging his flight with his online game Tabula Rasa are expected in coming weeks, said Garriott.

"It's a great opportunity that can't be missed," he said. "Tabula Rasa is a science-fiction game associated with interplanetary travel, and here I am travelling in outer space."

Animal Logic does gaming

Oscar-winning special-effects house Animal Logic plans to take on the world's great computer game companies, says The Australian.

Animal Logic, which won an Oscar for the animated penguin musical Happy Feet and thrilled audiences with its work on the Spartan war epic 300, has announced the formation of Animal Logic Interactive.

The new Los Angeles-based business will focus on computer games and interactive entertainment ventures.
