Germany celebrates 25 years

Germany is celebrating its 25 years in online banking since its inception in 1983, says Finchannel.com.

To protect customers from unauthorised third parties, retail and savings banks came up with the PIN/TAN procedure, which still - in a highly advanced form - represents the foundation of flexible and secure online banking in Germany.

With 2.9 million visitors a month, the www.postbank.de Web site is Germany's most frequently visited finance page.

Banking application wins award

MyMoney convenience banking application on Facebook has won The Banker Technology Awards 2008 Retail Award for Online Innovation, says Market Watch.

Now in its sixth year, The Banker Technology Awards seeks to identify and celebrate excellence and innovation in all areas of banking technology.

Using MyMoney, users can view account balances, history and transfer funds right from their Facebook profile, with multiple layers of security protecting their data and accounts.

Bank adopts IBM solution

The Almoayed Group, partner of IBM in Bahrain, will deploy IBM servers at International Investment Bank (IIB), states Gulf Daily News.

The systems will run an Islamic banking solution on high availability clusters.

Almoayed Group CEO Rajan Mohindra says: "With a powerful IT infrastructure in place, IIB will now have a solid platform to deploy industry leading IT solutions to meet the ever-growing industry challenges."
