MS unveils gaming mouse

Expanding upon the venerable but once-abandoned SideWinder accessory brand, Microsoft will release a new version of the wireless gaming mouse for the PC, says gamesarefun.

Microsoft expects to ship the Sidewinder X8 by February next year, for the price of $100.

Microsoft's latest offering also includes a USB cable that allows users to recharge the mouse while using it, and features 30 hours of play time for the 2.4GHZ wireless device.

ESPN merges reality with gaming graphics

ESPN has collaborated with EA Sports, a division of Electronic Arts, to develop a new system that allows its commentators to interact live with realistic-looking, 3D virtual players, reports Broadcast Engineering.

Together, the two companies have combined the look and feel of a video game with live television for a high degree of interactivity, flexibility and a new enhancement tool for in-studio sports analysis.

Called EA Sports Virtual Playbook, real-world studio and game images of virtual characters are combined to create the effect of augmented reality - virtual players appearing in the studio alongside real hosts and analysts.
