NEC unveils POS systems

NEC of America, a provider of IT, network and retail solutions, has released two complete point-of-sale (POS) transaction management systems, TwinPOS 5500 and TwinPOS 3500, says TMCnet.

The company says the system is suitable for retailers ranging from small to large that want to lower costs and simplify the checkout experience for customers.

Suited for retail environments, such as grocery and convenience stores, as well as quick-service environments, NEC's TwinPOS 5500 operates on either Microsoft Windows Embedded for the Point of Service, or Linux.

Dabs.com implements JunctionRES

Dabs.com, part of BT PLC group and a direct retailer of electronics goods and services in the UK, has selected JunctionRES from Junction Solutions to underpin its entire operation, to drive growth, enable efficiency and deliver improved customer service, reports Market Watch.

Established in 1987, dabs.com sells a range of home computing, consumer electronics and business IT products to consumer and B2B customers across the UK and Eire. The company needed to replace its home-grown systems due to their decreasing ability to keep up with the fast paced evolution of the business.

To better manage planning, purchasing, warehouse, order processing, customer services, returns and marketing, it decided to replace them with JunctionRES, a multi-channel retain enterprise-wide solution.

Food retailers stock-up on SAP

Over 124 SAP food retail customers have selected SAP for Retail, a solution that helps grocers meet the latest merchandise, supply chain and customer challenges, states Webwire.

Recognising that many food retailers today struggle with procurement of perishables and integrated direct-store delivery, SAP provides retailers visibility into their business operations and promotes easy collaboration among vendors.

With the SAP for Retail solution portfolio, grocers can efficiently support the role of a central perishables buyer.
