World conference to encourage open source

IDG World Expo, a producer of tradeshows and events, has launched OpenSource World Conference & Expo 2009, an event that will focus exclusively on open source software and Linux, bringing together industry leaders who are shaping the future of new enterprise technology, says Market Watch.

OpenSource World will include the key features of LinuxWorld, but will offer a strong focus on supporting and enlarging not only the Linux market, but the overarching open source technology umbrella.

OpenSource World is scheduled to take place 10 to 13 August 2009 at San Francisco's Moscone Centre.

AtMail embraces open source

AtMail, a provider of Linux-based e-mail management appliances and software, has unveiled the AtMail Open via FreeBSD Ports, states Antara News.

AtMail Open represents a new option for small to medium-sized organisations that want to leverage the advantages of open source tools combined with the reliability of a proven, commercial-grade e-mail management solution.

"The inclusion of AtMail Open via FreeBSD Ports is in line with our company support of open source projects and solutions," says Corey Bissaillon, VP of AtMail.

Come2Play to improve open source

Come2Play, developer of a platform for multiplayer casual Flash games, has released an open source application program interface that enables game developers to turn single player Flash games into social gaming networks, reports TMCnet.

The platform provides an option for copying games and placing them as widgets and applications in iGoogle, Facebook, MySpace, Orkut, and Google's open social partner network.

The company is offering developers the opportunity to exploit the full potential of their open source Flash game in terms of revenues, distribution and branding, and still retain all copyright.
