SecurElement implements Synygy

SecurElement Infrastructure Solutions, a managed environment solutions provider, has selected Synygy's data operations centre for its primary hosting facility, states MarketWatch.

Faced with an outdated data centre, SecurElement chose to avoid the high costs associated with upgrading, a projected six-figure capital expenditure, and opted instead for outsourced hosting and associated business continuity services.

"Synygy is fully capable of handling all of our data storage and security needs. Implementation has been impeccable; they have delivered everything on time and within the defined terms of our agreement," says Patrick Baird, president and CEO of SecurElement Infrastructure Solutions.

Core Nap unveils DR solution

Core Nap, a data centre solutions provider in central Texas, has made available its Disaster Recovery Solution, a business continuity planning offering that provides data storage and replication capabilities for a wide range of US companies, reports MarketWatch.

Core Nap's central Texas location and 100% power reliability record make it an ideal choice for Gulf Coast businesses' disaster recovery needs.

As part of its disaster recovery solution, Core Nap offers remote storage, off-site server replication and CDP, and enterprise disaster recovery.

Fire Brigade moves to Linux

The NSW Fire Brigades has adopted virtualisation for its new disaster recovery strategy and in the process moved its core services from Windows to SUSE Linux, says Techworld.

NSW Fire Brigades' IT infrastructure operations manager, Matthew Robey, said with 60 physical servers in a single production data centre there were increasing server costs, no more “real estate” to accommodate servers and limited disaster recovery capacity.

“We consolidated servers using Oracle RAC and VMware, and moved from Windows to SLES 10,” Robey said.
