FNB Botswana goes electronic

FNB Botswana's (FNBB) electronic banking division recorded another milestone in the channel's history by breaking through the one million pula cellphone prepaid sales mark, reports Mmegi.

"Prepaid airtime still remains the leading driver of transaction volumes on the cellphone banking channel, accounting for more than 80% of transactions recorded monthly," says Yolisa Phillips-Lejowa, head of Electronic Banking.

Prepaid purchases, in particular, remain the most popular on the cellphone banking channel, she added. More than P1 million worth of prepaid services were purchased on FNBB's cellphone banking channel during the month of September.

Vietnam, which lags behind other countries in the use of banking technologies, should upgrade, the central bank governor said at a banking and security conference that opened in Ho Chi Minh City recently, says Thanhnien News.

Nguyen Van Giau said applying new technologies, therefore, “tops our agenda to modernise the country's banking system.

“A more advanced system will help Vietnam better manage and monitor the operations of the banking system to ensure an effective and safe performance.”

Michael Carlton, president of North Carolina's Crescent State Bank, has announced the bank has selected Metavante, a banking and payments technology provider, to replace the bank's core processing system, writes The Open Press.

The system offers banking and payments technology solutions from several areas, including core processing, consumer and business electronic banking, electronic funds transfer, customer relationship management, electronic payment and wealth management.

Metavante's integrated delivery channels and information management tools will provide Crescent with a total view of its customer base, as well as the necessary tools to better understand and communicate with its customers.
