Symantec simplifies IT management

Johannesburg, 13 Mar 2009

Symantec has released its two latest offerings, the Altiris Client Management Suite 7.0 and the Altiris Server Management Suite 7.0.

Kevin Issac, Symantec regional director for Africa and the Middle East, says: “As the current economic slowdown has placed a greater emphasis on cost reductions, our customers are looking for better ways to cut expenses and reduce the growing complexity of managing endpoints while improving security.”

The solutions provide automation and integration from a central location, Isaac says, to reduce the time it takes to manage assets while improving security and reducing operational costs.

Client Management Suite 7.0 gives customers a comprehensive solution for better control of their IT environment by streamlining efforts in deploying, managing, securing and troubleshooting client systems. New features in Client Management Suite 7.0 include intelligent software management, increased platform coverage, integrated power management and systems management.

Server Management Suite 7.0 manages, monitors and provisions for server infrastructures across a range of platforms, regardless of whether the server is physical or virtual. The suite's new features include integrated performance monitoring, consolidated event management and change management features.

Symantec offers customers a full range of technical support and education offerings, and provides improved support for Windows, Unix, VMware, Linux and Mac.

The company has integrated technologies from some of its key products, including Symantec Endpoint Protection, Backup Exec, Backup Exec System Recovery and Symantec Data Loss Prevention for Endpoint.

A unified solution simplifies the implementation and operations of an organisation's IT strategy, while reducing costs with a single vendor, Symantec says.
