Taking a leaf out of digital mapping

Leaf International Communications says the future of digital mapping is in server-based services that allow people to access up-to-date digital maps.

“You have to develop products that people want to use every day rather than a turn by turn application which they use once and then put it into the cubby-holder,” says Leaf product sales director Bj"on G"ohre.

G"ohre says asset-tracking applications have the potential to address the issue of fuel efficiency and traffic congestion by consolidating the information from cars with the devices in them and putting that information online so that people can plan their commutes accordingly. “This will help bring down the carbon footprint.”

Leaf is exhibiting at the Digital Life Expo for the second time. G"ohre says Leaf has seen a significant uptake of their Leaf Pinpoint digital mapping solution.

“After last year, there was a huge interest in our Leaf Locate mapping solution which was offered as a free download off our Web site. We had a 40% uptake on HTC devices since we released this solution last year.”
