NVIDIA makes 3D debut

NVIDIA has released its 3D kit, comprising of a pair of wireless glasses, an IR emitter and PC software, states T3.com

Enabling a 3D experience for PC gaming, the £129.99 (R1 670) GeForce 3D Vision box full of products will work with monitors and TVs tuned to 120Hz or higher.

"PC gamers can expect a new level of immersion in full stereoscopic 3D, and enjoy broad support for the hottest games," says Microsoft's marketing manager for games for Windows, Corey Rosemond.

Game promotes broadband service

The Internet service provider Be Broadband is introducing a promotion for its broadband packages, reports Techwatch.

This will involve a first-person shooter game which highlights the problems that consumers can have while connecting to the Internet for gaming purposes.

The game, which is available on the Be Broadband Web site, is called 'Unreal call of brothers 5: the road to broadband heaven'. Of course the general idea involves Be Broadband trying to show gamers that it offers a superior service, compared with competing broadband connections.

Video game sales slump 17%

Lacking the big hits that made the year-ago period a standout, US video game sales dropped sharply in April for the second month in a row as customers continued to watch their wallets, says The Associated Press.

Market researcher NPD group said that retail sales of game software, hardware and accessories dropped 17% last month, to $1.03 billion.

Software sales plunged 23% to $510.7 million, more than many analysts had expected. Hardware sales, meanwhile, declined 8% to $391.6 million.
