E-billing for utilities

The city of Henderson in the US says its utility customers will soon have the option of going paperless after the city council approved a contract to make the Department of Utility Services' billing system electronic, reports The Las Vegas Sun.

Customers can already pay their bills online. The new system will do away with the need for paper statements, which will be delivered via e-mail.

The council approved a three-year contract with local data management firm DivDat to create and manage the system for $419 000 a year. The move to an electronic system is expected to save the city $73 000 in its first year.

By taking its e-billing and invoice management solutions to the US market, the company hopes to offer businesses a new way to cut down on their costs and improve efficiency.

CTI Group says it offers an online reporting tool for medium and large businesses to analyse their bills and finds areas where cost and efficiency improvements can be made.
