Mozilla patches Firefox holes

Mozilla has released two new versions of its browser, Firefox 3.5.3 and 3.0.14, that patch three critical security holes and fix assorted other bugs, states CNET News.

The updates can be fetched through the Help menu's 'check for updates' option, or can be downloaded directly.

Although Mozilla still supports the 3.0 version, it's pushing people to the 3.5 version, and support for the 3.0 series will end in a few months. Version 3.5, released in June, supports a variety of new Web page technologies and includes a faster JavaScript engine for running Web-based programs.

Verizon, Sybase offer managed mobility

Verizon and Sybase have partnered to unveil Verizon Managed Mobility Solutions, which will offer inventory and expense management, logistics, mobile device management and security, and application management, reports ITWire.

Sybase has been selected to support the mobile device management and security modules. Mobile device management embraces delivering tools, applications and data to employees in a timely manner, and creating and enforcing flexible mobile policies across devices, groups or individual users.

Mobile Security will enforce access codes, establish 'lock/wipe' policies, encrypt devices and data cards and deliver firewall and anti-virus applications and supports mobile access to corporate applications.

Mobile meeting iPhone app unveiled

TimeBridge unveiled several new features to its online meeting application and also introduced a version of it for Apple's popular iPhone, says eWeek.

TimeBridge offers its free personal meeting scheduler application in 2007 and now has more than 400 000 business customers using it to get together. Users create a meeting invitation with a few proposed times, and TimeBridge automatically collects attendee responses, selects the best meeting time and notifies all participants.

No downloads are required to use the Web app, which integrates with most calendar applications, including Google, Outlook and Apple iCal.
