Mobile architecture for BlackBerry

SAP and Research In Motion (RIM) have joined forces to change the way people work by enabling anytime, anywhere mobile access to SAP enterprise applications through the BlackBerry platform, reports CNN Money.

The first output expected from this new partnership is a BlackBerry smartphone client that will merge the power of the SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) application with core BlackBerry smartphone applications, including the BlackBerry e-mail, address book and calendar applications.

The new mobile SAP CRM application will leverage the inherent security, management capabilities and efficiency of the BlackBerry platform and the intuitive user experience of BlackBerry smartphones.

People fail SOA

At Interop 2008, panellists said most SOA efforts will fail, but the issues are with people and processes and not with technology, states Infoworld.

Burton Group analyst Chris Howard said: "The state of the union of SOA right now is there's some fatigue set in." Howard noted that when he recently asked an audience of 300 people whether their SOA efforts were going well, only a half dozen responded positively.

The problem's not technology, Howard said. People and processes are at the heart of what's wrong with SOA as it currently exists in enterprises.

HP unveils new products

HP has unleashed a slew of product updates and enhancements to provide lifecycle services quality and management support, says ZDnet.

This includes new versions of Service Test and Service Test Management. At the same time, HP's Software group added new capabilities to Business Availability Centre for SOA, Diagnostics for SOA, and SOA Policy Enforcer.

HP says these product enhancements will help users improve enterprise-wide level SOA adoption by providing assurances that services meet design and operational requirements.
