Network management tool for free

SolarWinds, a provider of downloadable network management software, has a new free tool, Real-time NetFlow Analyzer, says Market Watch.

The software continuously captures and analyses network traffic data, providing network engineers with an effective, easy-to-use vehicle for answering the age-old question, "Why is the network slow?"

With NetFlow analysis, engineers can easily determine if an individual application, user or device is clogging the network or if the cause is a systemic bandwidth issue that could dramatically impact business performance.

Goodbye IT department

According to Open PR, internal IT departments to become a thing of the past, predict experts at DMC Software Solutions.

With the outsourcing of IT becoming more popular in the small and medium enterprise arena, many businesses are looking to go completely infrastructure-free across both public and private sectors by outsourcing all IT support.

IT support is being transferred to external sources, which assume responsibility for the day-to-day IT management.

Italian police to use BMC

The Carabinieri, Italy's renowned federal police organisation, has standardised on BMC's Business Service Management (BSM) platform, reports Market Watch.

The Carabinieri will use BSM to unify its vast and complex information systems by 2009, thus freeing up critical internal resources.

BMC was selected by the Carabinieri as part of a public bidding process based on its ability to meet the in-depth technical demands of the Italian federal police, as well as BMC's excellent reputation and proven track record in deploying BSM.
